Shipping and Logistics
Overview
We coordinate international freight and logistics as part of our sourcing services. While we manage and oversee the shipping process, the client remains the importer of record unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Our role is to facilitate a smooth, transparent and cost-effective delivery process from factory to destination.
⸻
Importer of Record
Unless explicitly agreed otherwise:
• The client is the importer of record.
• The client is responsible for payment of all applicable customs duties, GST, taxes and government charges.
• The client is responsible for ensuring the product complies with Australian regulations and standards.
We provide guidance where possible but do not assume legal responsibility for compliance.
⸻
Incoterms
Shipping arrangements are typically structured under internationally recognised Incoterms, including:
• EXW (Ex Works) – Client assumes responsibility from factory pickup.
• FOB (Free On Board) – Risk transfers once goods are loaded at the port of origin.
• CIF (Cost, Insurance & Freight) – Supplier covers freight and basic insurance to destination port.
Final Incoterms are agreed per project and confirmed in writing before production.
⸻
Freight & Transit Times
Transit times vary depending on:
• Production schedule
• Port congestion
• Shipping route
• Customs clearance
• Seasonal demand
Typical timelines:
• Sea freight to Australia: 2–5 weeks
• Air freight: 3–10 days
All transit times are estimates only and not guaranteed.
We are not liable for delays caused by shipping carriers, customs authorities, port congestion, weather events, or other factors outside our control.
⸻
Freight Forwarders
We may:
• Coordinate with the client’s nominated freight forwarder, or
• Recommend trusted third-party logistics providers.
Freight contracts are between the client and the freight forwarder unless otherwise agreed.
⸻
Insurance
Marine cargo insurance is strongly recommended for all shipments.
Insurance may be:
• Included under CIF terms (basic cover), or
• Arranged separately through a freight forwarder.
Unless specifically agreed in writing, insurance is the responsibility of the client.
⸻
Risk Transfer
Risk of loss or damage transfers according to the agreed Incoterm for each shipment.
We do not accept liability for loss, damage, or delay once goods have transferred under the agreed shipping terms.
⸻
Customs Clearance
Customs clearance is handled by the client’s appointed customs broker or freight forwarder.
The client is responsible for:
• Accurate product declarations
• Payment of duties and taxes
• Providing required compliance documentation
We assist in coordinating documentation provided by the factory but do not act as customs brokers.
⸻
Storage & Demurrage
Any storage fees, demurrage charges, port fees, or additional costs due to delayed clearance or pickup are the responsibility of the client.
⸻
Force Majeure
We are not liable for failure or delay in performance due to circumstances beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to:
• Government restrictions
• Port closures
• Industrial disputes
• Natural disasters
• Global supply chain disruptions
